I’ve been blessed to see the majesty of the Ngorongoro Crater 3 times, all in different months of the year.  March is far and away the most magical to me.  It’s the beginning of the rain season.  The sky is often filled with thunderheads, cumulus clouds of various shades of gray, much like life.  Those clouds fly over the most intense shades of green you can imagine.  The Crater floor is filled with life bringing new life into the world.  It’s inspiring watching a newly born gazelle struggle to its feet on shaking legs and take its first steps.  If you’re lucky, you’ll get to hear a Lioness call her young brood from their lair and you’ll watch them tentatively step out to investigate the world around them.  The fun begins when they start to get a little comfortable and playfully pounce on the cub next to them, rolling around in the Savannah Grasses like typical domestic house cats.  It makes you want to jump out of the truck and play with them (BUT DON’T?!).  There is not a day that goes by that I don’t wish to be back in this magical place and its awe-inspiring peace.
